Seward Slides

I discovered these cement slides online while I was searching for playgrounds near us. The slides are pure cement and they are smack dab between two houses in the middle of a neighborhood. They are called the Seward Slides because they are on Seward Street (makes sense, right!?!).

Our kids love them because they are super fast! If you ride on a piece of cardboard you go even faster! The only problem is the slides are really narrow, so we've never come away without cement burns on elbows, fingers, heads, etc. If you're ever in San Francisco, you should definately check these out!

Seward Slides with Jack, Jo, and Olivia

This picture of Jack is my favorite!

This is our favorite picture - Joanna looks like she's posing!

Jack had the camera for this shot. Haley said, "Jack really likes Aunt Joanna."

Fourth of July

Walking dow to Ocean Avenue from our house to catch the light rail into town.

We ate lunch at a great Greek restaurant just off Golden Gate Park called "Park Gyros".  And, yes, [sigh] those are french fries.  You can lead a horse to water...

Behold the tasty morsels.  Mediterrainean goodness for my belly!

The Golden Gate Park Band conducted a free concert commemorating Independence Day.  We stuck around for 4 or 5 songs.

It was a bright, bright, bright, bright sunshiny day!

...but there was plenty of seating in the shade.

Next, we went to the Mothers' and Children's Playground at Golden Gate Park.  As we could've guessed, it was pretty busy.  Here, Haley is spinning Michael in a little bowl.  The expression on his face suggests that he is enjoying himself.
Nate enjoyed the concrete slides.  The kids would slide down on pieces of cardboard.  There are similar (better) slides in another part of town.  We'll post pictures later.
Haley and Andy loved climbing this huge spider web thing.
At the apex.

My boys, chillin' on the bus.  With really good posture (they got that from their dad).

Is he really sly or just photogenic?
We finished the day by swinging by Fisherman's Wharf.  We ate dinner at Lori's Diner (over-priced) on Ghiradelli Square.  Then we grabbed a bunch of salt water taffy from the Candy Barrel.
Nothing like a nice sunny photo op to bring out everyone's finest smiles.
Heading home on the MUNI subway.
Haley's wondering who those hooligans are in the background.

Aptos Park

We have a great park at the end of our street named Aptos Park. It is a playground/park shared with the middle school there. My kids haven't gotten tired of going there yet and we have a lot of fun as a famiy when we go there. The kids love to play a game of tag, especially when Mom and Dad are "it".
