It's always fun to have Nathan's birthday on the same day as the Fourth of July. Nathan was on-call (which happens a lot!) But Nathan always says, he'd rather have to work on his birthday then on Christmas. Nathan had to go into the hospital in the morning, but was home in time to go the ward picnic. He wouldn't tell me what kind of cake he wanted, so I got his favorite: Dairy Queen ice cream cake! We are still trying to eat it all!
38 candles take up the whole cake!
Trying to light the candles quick enough so that those lit don't melt the cake.
Man! He's so good looking!
Make a wish!
I mixed in re-light candles with regular candles as a surprise. The kids thought it was great that the candles kept re-lighting. This picture was taken as Nathan is asking me "okay, how do we get them to stop re-lighting?"
Trying to get a nice picture with all of the kids is always a challenge! We didn't get a good shot where both Andy and Alina were cooperating, so I choose this one, even though Alina has her mouth open. They're cute kids anyway!
The boys all gave Nathan a birthday card and my parents sent Nathan a mono-pod for his camera. We've seen people using a mono-pod and Nathan has been desiring one. Thanks Mom and Dad! Andy's card was really cute! He says, "Dear Dad, I love you up to infinity and beyond! I think you are a great part of this family because you help children and you spend as much time as you can with us. Thank you so much for letting us go to "Monsters University." I loved it! I could've gave you all my money and you wouldn't care, cause I know you love us more than money. You are the best dad ever! Love, Andy."
We've lived in Rochester for 8 years and have never gone to see the big fireworks that they do every year over Silver Lake. We met up with our friends, the Towe's, and sat in front of Kellogg Middle School, where we could see the fireworks but not have the loud booms! Here are the boys patiently waiting for it to get dark.
Danyelle Towe brought glow bracelets for the kids. Nathan was experimenting with the settings on our camera and got some cute shots. I thought Michael looked like a super hero with his two bracelets!
Again, playing with the camera settings, Nathan discovered that we could take pictures of patterns made with sparklers. We brought sparklers for the kids to light while waiting for the fireworks to start. I think I had more fun with them than the kids did!
Nate trying to do a "N". He didn't realize that it looked right to him, but was backwards to the camera.
Andy attempting an "A".
Haley tried to do a star, but her sparkler ran out of spark.
